Time: 7pm (doors); show starts at 7.30pm

Tickets: $25, available at the Galiano Bookstore & Twirly Tree Post Office & the Galiano Health Clinic

You are guaranteed an evening of laughter and professional quality entertainment as these nuns sing and dance in their own fundraiser. You see, the “Sisters” come back to the convent one evening after BINGO to find that Sister Julia Child of God (the cook) has accidently poisoned 52 of the order with her Vichyssoise. There is enough money in the convent treasury to bury all but 4 of the dearly departed, who are currently being held in the convent freezer.

Dr Erin Carlson has been busy with volunteers in the new Galiano Clinic Garden Plot – located at the rear of the Lion’s Field in the new community allotment garden area. Here’s a peek at some early harvest from our garden. If you’re interested in helping in the garden or would like to sample the produce, let one of the staff at the Clinic know and they’ll point you in the right direction. Hmmm. I wonder what will be growing over the summer?

On Wednesday June 4th at 2pm in the Galiano Library meeting room, you are invited to join us for an afternoon reading of High Clear Bell of Morning, a new novel by author Ann Eriksson. The book takes a journey with a family affected by mental illness.

Entry is free.

The Galiano Health Care Society has its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday April 26th at the South Hall from 1-4pm. At the business meeting we will be presenting a Special Resolution to amend 5 areas of our Society Bylaws. We encourage members to review the proposed amendments prior to the meeting, and to bring questions and comments to share at the AGM. Remember, you have to be a Society member to vote on the proposed changes. You can renew memberships anytime Mon-Fri by contacting Linda at the health clinic at 250 539 3753. Also, we will be selling memberships at the South Hall prior to the AGM on Saturday April 26th from 12pm -1pm.

Presentations by Dr Erin Carlson, Jo Rippin (NP) and Nancy McPhee (Aging in Place). Hear about plans for social programs and health care for 2014.

Information about current fundraising goals will also be presented along with financial statements. You’ll have an opportunity to ask questions and offer ideas to support the ongoing operation of your health centre.

Thank you to the Galiano community for your enthusiastic attendance at the Welcome and Thanks event held on October 16th at the South Community Hall. A special thank you to Leanne Rowand (NP) for her dedicated work as our only consistent primary care practitioner over the past three years. Gratitude to Jim Schmidt for his efforts as Past President that spearheaded the search for a new physician for Galiano. A big welcome to Dr Erin Carlson and nurse practitioner Jo Rippin – our new permanent members of the health care team.

The Galiano community is invited to attend an open house to meet our new doctor, Dr. Erin Carlson, and our new nurse practitioner, Jo Rippin. We will also be thanking Leanne Rowand (NP) for her commitment to health care on Galiano for the past few years, and thanks to Jim Schmidt for his efforts to support the search for new practitioners for our island.
