Galiano Island is a beautiful, rural community halfway between Vancouver and Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. We’re a short ferry ride from either the Lower Mainland or the Saanich Peninsula, set in the heart of the Pacific Northwest. Twelve hundred full-time residents need your expertise.
The competitive funding structure for this position enables you to focus on what matters most to you…practicing medicine! This is a turn-key operation, which keeps the paperwork for the business end of the operation off of your desk.
We are very proud of our Health Care Clinic. It’s a modern facility with space for you, and other health care practitioners. Galiano has a long history as a place to come and heal. Today, Galiano even hosts the Woodstone Residence which provides multidisciplinary, specialized care for young people suffering from eating disorders.
Emergency support in our community comes in the form of our ambulance service, two volunteer fire departments, and the ability to rapidly evacuate critically ill patients via water or air, the helicopter pad being situated directly on-site at the clinic.
Fantastic cultural and recreational opportunities are waiting for you right here! Galiano itself is one of the region’s best places for fishing, golf, hiking, sailing, and healthy local food. We also have a substantial array of stimulating clubs and social groups.
And for the kind of living that only cities can provide, Vancouver, Victoria, and Seattle are short hops away via ferry or float plane. And if you happen to have young children, our community school is an especially great place for kids to grow and learn.
We’ve found that family practice doctors are very hard working, generous people and we’re sensitive to the fact that they tend to give of themselves far too much. As such, we’re crafting ways to work with our Doctor to make certain that they get time to themselves…time to recharge and unplug, both near and far.
